Zach Wilson struggled through an incredibly difficult rookie season with the New York Jets, but former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson believes he knows the key to making that a distant memory in 2022.
Johnson tweeted some very specific advice for the Jets on Monday. The ex-Cincinnati Bengals star said New York needs to start using receiver Elijah Moore the way the Los Angeles Rams use Cooper Kupp.
You want success, use Elijah Moore the way the Rams use Kupp, you have a very good QB in Zachary Wilson https://t.co/t5DPr1YNza

That would be a lot easier said than done. Kupp is one of the best wide receivers in football. He’s coming off a season in which he caught 145 passes for 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns. He capped the year off with a Super Bowl MVP award. The Rams scheme Kupp open and get him the ball in space, which is a good approach for any team to take with their best skill player. Kupp is also a master at finding holes in zone defenses.
Can Moore be that guy for the Jets? The former Ole Miss star is certainly talented. New York used the 34th overall pick in the draft on him last year. He caught 43 passes for 538 yards and five touchdowns, but he did so for an offense that was largely a mess. Wilson had just 2,334, nine touchdowns passes and 11 interceptions in 13 games.
The Jets have several problems to address this offseason, but we wouldn’t be surprised if they take Johnson’s advice on some level. There’s a reason they felt Moore was worthy of an early second-round pick. Getting him the ball would probably be a good idea.
