Chargers fear CB Jason Verrett tore Achilles during conditioning test
Oft-injured cornerback Jason Verrett’s 2018 season appears to have gotten off to an awful start.
Verrett suffered an injury during the first conditioning test of Los Angeles Chargers camp on Friday. Both ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport says there is fear that Verrett tore his Achilles’ tendon.
Verrett, who was a first-round pick by the Chargers in 2014, would be injured for the third season in a row if that’s the case.
The former TCU cornerback suffered a torn ACL in 2016, then missed nearly all of last season to undergo knee surgery.
The injury would leave the Chargers with Casey Hayward, Trevor Williams and Desmond King at cornerback.
