Some pretty cool things have come out of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl win, including one act by defensive lineman Derrick Nnadi.
Nnadi vowed to pay the adoption fee for dogs in the Kansas City Pet Project animal shelter as of Sunday if his team won the Super Bowl. When that happened, Nnadi followed through, covering the roughly $150 average fee for 91 dogs, according to Adam Teicher of ESPN.
As of Monday afternoon, a KC Pet Project spokesperson reported that 20 dogs had been adopted, double what would be expected on an average workday. The program is an extension of what Nnadi did during the regular season, in which he paid one dog’s adoption fees after every Chiefs win.
Obviously, everyone with the Chiefs celebrated a little differently. It’s cool that Nnadi is doing some good as a result of the Super Bowl win, and it sounds like a quality tradition.
