Clay Matthews left Sunday’s Green Bay Packers-Pittsburgh Steelers game after re-aggravating his thumb injury.
Matthews sacked Ben Roethlisberger on a 3rd-and-9 play at the Green Bay 43 that led to a punt. Matthews was in obvious pain after making the tackle and was looking at his right hand as he headed off the field. He later went to the locker room.
Matthews fractured his thumb in Week 5 against the Detroit Lions, had surgery, and returned in Week 10. It was expected that Matthews would be out until Week 11 or 12, so he returned earlier than expected.
