The Indianapolis Colts have found some veteran insurance amid the injury to Alec Pierce.
Several reporters confirmed on Monday that the Colts were signing wide receiver Darius Slayton to a contract. He joins an Indy wideout room thinned out by injuries after Pierce hurt his left heel in a Week 2 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Colts quarterback Daniel Jones is very familiar with Slayton. The two developed chemistry on the New York Giants while playing together from 2019 to 2024.
Slayton was Jones’ most targeted wide receiver in 2022 and 2023 before the arrival of Malik Nabers the following year. The 29-year-old wideout tallied 296 catches for 4,435 yards and 22 touchdowns in seven seasons with the Giants.
The Giants cut Slayton earlier this month. He was the team’s longest-tenured player before being let go. He caught 37 passes for 538 yards and a touchdown across 14 games last season.
On top of Pierce’s injury, veteran backup Ashton Dulin is also sidelined due to an ankle issue. The Colts may potentially rely on Slayton as early as Indianapolis’ Week 3 clash against the Houston Texans.
