Report: Colts, Eagles making ‘strong push’ to sign Alshon Jeffery

Alshon Jeffery is reportedly receiving interest from several teams on the free agent market, and the Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles may be leading the charge.

While Jeffery has had talks with the Chicago Bears about returning, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that both the Eagles and Colts are making a “strong push” to sign the 27-year-old.

While remaining healthy has been a problem for Jeffery in recent years, he is arguably the most talented wide receiver available. He averages 15 yards per reception for his career and has scored 26 touchdowns in 63 games. The former South Carolina star has missed 11 games over the past two seasons, but that likely isn’t going to prevent him from getting top dollar on the open market.

At least one other team was said to be interested in Jeffery as of last week, and the Eagles signed Torrey Smith to a three-year, $15 million deal on Thursday. Pairing Jeffery with Andrew Luck in Indianapolis would be very intriguing.
