Eric Decker is set to make big money in free agency this offseason, and the Indianapolis Colts are said to be one of the teams interested in signing him.
CBS Denver reporter and Denver radio host Vic Lombardi reports that the Colts are one of the teams interested in Decker. He also says Decker would love to play with Andrew Luck if the Broncos don’t bring him back.
Decker will be 27 next season and is coming off his finest year as a pro. He caught 87 passes for 1,288 yards and 11 touchdowns playing with Peyton Manning. Though Decker received a boost playing with the MVP QB the past two seasons, he was even productive and managed to find the end zone consistently when teaming with Kyle Orton and Tim Tebow, so you know the guy can play.
Decker will be paid like a No. 1 receiver by some team and the Broncos will likely let him walk. Denver has multiple talented receivers and probably don’t think paying Decker top dollar is a good use of their limited funds.
Decker also said during the offseason that he will do what’s best for his family, which seems like an indication that he will go to whomever pays him the most. If that turns out to be the Colts, they’ll be even more of a dangerous team. They already have a good quarterback and offense but were lacking a second receiving threat, especially after Reggie Wayne got hurt.
