Cowboys reportedly had CeeDee Lamb No. 6 on draft board
The Dallas Cowboys surprised some by picking wide receiver CeeDee Lamb in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday, but it may not be as surprising when you find out how highly the organization rated him.
According to Jon Machota of The Athletic, the Cowboys had Lamb ranked as the No. 6 player on their draft board. In all their mock drafts, the organization never expected Lamb to be available to them at No. 17.
That was enough to get the Cowboys to go offense instead of picking K’Lavon Chaisson, an edge rusher who would have filled a key need and was widely mocked to go to Dallas.
There were some top ten teams who were at least being pushed to draft Lamb. It may not be a clear position of need, but it’s definitely a good value pick for the Cowboys — especially when you consider how highly they thought of him prior to the draft.
