Dallas Cowboys defensive back Markquese Bell is facing a felony drug charge after being arrested on Friday.
Bell was arrested by Prosper, Tex. police and charged with possession of a controlled substance and marijuana, per ESPN’s Todd Archer. Possession of a controlled substance is a felony.
The Cowboys are aware of the arrest and declined to comment. The NFL has the authority to punish Bell under the league’s personal conduct policy, even if he does not face any legal consequences.
Deiric Jackson, Bell’s agent, said his client plans to let the legal process play out and is entitled to his day in court.
Bell just finished up his fourth NFL season, all of them with the Cowboys. He was an undrafted free agent out of Florida A&M in 2022 and has become a depth cornerback and special teams player. He played in 17 games last season with three starts and tallied 41 total tackles with three passes defended, a forced fumble, and an interception.
