Dan Campbell had 6-word message for Kevin O’Connell after game

Dan Campbell had a 6-word message for Kevin O’Connell after the big Week 18 game between the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings.

The Lions beat up on the Vikings 31-9 at Ford Field in Detroit, Mich., on Sunday night to finish the season 15-2. The victory gave Detroit the No. 1 seed in the NFC, the NFC North crown, and it sent the 14-3 Vikings to the five-seed. Minnesota will have to face the Rams in Los Angeles in the Wild Card round.

If Minnesota beats the Rams while the Eagles and Buccaneers also win, that would set up a rematch between the Vikings and Lions in the Divisional Round. That’s something Campbell noted in his postgame message to O’Connell.

As the two head coaches shook hands after the game, Campbell could be heard telling O’Connell, “I’ll see you in two weeks.”

That was a friendly message from Campbell, who obviously wanted to show his respect for O’Connell and the Vikings. Of course, there is no guarantee that Minnesota will beat the Rams. Even if they do, there’s no guarantee they would face the Lions in the Divisional Round. The NFL re-seeds, so the Lions would face the lowest-ranked team in the Divisional Round. Both the Packers and Commanders are seeded lower than the Vikings.
