DeMarcus Lawrence to receive huge contract from Cowboys

DeMarcus Lawrence

The Dallas Cowboys and DeMarcus Lawrence seem to have closed their negotiating gap quickly.

Lawrence and the Cowboys and expected to agree to a 5-year deal, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo. They say the deal should eclipse $100 million.

The Cowboys had franchise-tagged Lawrence to ensure they wouldn’t lose him in free agency, and now they’re locking him up. This is a quick turnaround considering last week they were reported to be at an impasse in discussions.

Lawrence had 64 tackles, 10.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception last season. He had 14.5 sacks and a forced fumble in 2017. The Cowboys couldn’t afford to lose him with Randy Gregory suspended and David Irving planning to retire.
