Back in 2012, Dez Bryant was arrested on a misdemeanor family violence charge after he allegedly assaulted his mother. The charge was later dropped, but not before Bryant’s mother explained to police in detail the way she claims her son attacked her.
On Tuesday, TMZ obtained an interview video from when Angela Bryant spoke to police following the 2012 incident. She claimed Dez got into a heated argument with her brother before getting physical with her.
“I said, ‘Dez, this is wrong. This is what everybody’s been talking about. This outside stuff is gonna get you in trouble.'” Angela told police. “He goes, ‘I don’t care!’ and grabs my shirt. I pulled away from him and he grabbed it again and tears my shirt.
“Then, he started threatening me, talking about how he’s gonna knock me out. … I kept telling him to leave.”
Bryant’s mother also claimed that he hit her with a baseball cap, noting that she asked him to leave several times before phoning the police. Officers at the scene did not find any blood or bruises on Angela, though some photos that appeared to show markings on her hand and leg were taken.
The fact that Bryant has a history of getting into trouble off the field is nothing new. We highlighted the ways in which he has proven he is a trouble magnet here.
However, Bryant’s 2012 incident with his mother could become more relevant if he truly is being blackmailed over some sort of incriminating video. We already heard some disturbing details from a 2011 incident that Bryant was involved with in a Walmart parking lot. The alleged bombshell video remains a mystery for now.
