
Ryan Fitzpatrick’s tenure as the starting quarterback of the Miami Dolphins looks set to continue.
Dolphins GM Chris Grier said Wednesday he expected to keep Fitzpatrick around for the second year of his two-year deal, and also suggested that the quarterback will play.

That certainly doesn’t bode well for Josh Rosen’s future. It also indicates that the Dolphins, who pick fifth in the NFL Draft, might be locked out of landing a young quarterback. There have been rumors that they covet Joe Burrow, but the chances of them prying the No. 1 pick away from the Cincinnati Bengals appear to be quite remote.
Fitzpatrick was fairly effective in his starts for Miami in 2019, going 5-8 while throwing for 3,529 yards and 20 touchdowns. He can probably give them another competent year, but the 37-year-old is not a long-term solution for Miami’s rebuild.
