The Miami Dolphins may be shipping off many of their key assets on offense, but running back De’Von Achane is not likely to be one of them.
Teams have called the Dolphins to inquire about Achane’s availability but have been told he will not be traded, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Achane is entering the final season of his rookie deal, but the organization’s new leadership views him as a building block and hopes to sign him to a contract extension.
Achane is expected to be the “centerpiece” of the Dolphins’ new-look offense. Plus, Miami would not want the cupboard to be completely bare for new quarterback Malik Willis, who just signed a three-year deal.
The Dolphins traded wide receiver Jaylen Waddle on Tuesday, and had already cut Tyreek Hill earlier in the offseason. Those moves left many wondering if Achane would be next out the door if Miami was cleaning house. Achane is three years younger than Waddle, however, and clearly has a role in the team’s future.
Achane has emerged as one of the NFL’s most explosive running backs. He had a breakout season in 2025, rushing for 1,350 yards and eight touchdowns while leading the league with 5.7 rushing yards per attempt.
