Report: Dolphins may launch desperate pursuit of John Harbaugh
The Miami Dolphins are engaging in a rather methodical coaching search, but there is some speculation in NFL circles that owner Stephen Ross may soon grow desperate to make a statement.
According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk, despite the set of coaches the Dolphins have spoken to so far, there is one that they haven’t spoken to that many believe they will eventually try for. There is a sense throughout the league that Ross will grow desperate and offer the Baltimore Ravens whatever they seek in order to poach John Harbaugh as head coach. That price may be as high as two first-round picks.
There is some sense to this. Ross is a Michigan alum and a major benefactor of the university where Harbaugh’s brother Jim is head coach. The allure of an established head coach may prove appealing as well.
There’s one major problem: the Ravens and Harbaugh are progressing toward a long-term deal, and neither side seems to want to part ways with the other. However, if the Ravens have a price tag and someone is willing to pay it, who knows what could happen.
