Several NFL teams decided to move on from their head coaches on Monday, and most of the firings were expected. However, the most surprising move may have been the Miami Dolphins’ decision to part ways with Adam Gase.
According to several reports, the Dolphins have informed Gase that they are not bringing him back in 2019.
The biggest surprise of the coaching carousel happens in Miami: #Dolphins coach Adam Gase is out. He’ll immediately emerge as a top candidate for several openings. Big-time QB prowess.

Miami went 10-6 and made the playoffs in Gase’s first season with the team in 2016, but they went 13-19 over the past two seasons and have not returned to the postseason since. Gase’s background is as an offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, and he never got a chance to draft and develop his own QB with the Dolphins. Instead, he dealt with an oft-injured Ryan Tannehill.
As Ian Rapoport of NFL Network noted, Gase is not expected to be unemployed for long. While many other fired coaches will likely end up with coordinator jobs, Gase is a good candidate to land a head coaching job elsewhere.
