The Jacksonville Jaguars beat up on the New York Jets 31-12 on Sunday, and many felt they even tried to run up the score late.
The Jags scored a touchdown to extend their lead to 19 points in the final minute and then attempted a 2-point conversion, which failed.
The 2-point conversion was one of the first things Jags coach Doug Marrone was asked about after the game. He defended the decision and tried to deflect any interpretations about his motive, saying that some members of the field goal team were banged up.
Marrone – decided to go for 2 at the end since they had a lot of guys banged up for the PAT. Asked if they were trying to send a message…”we’re not good enough to send a message right now”

Doug Marrone: “The chart said go for 2.” #Jaguars

Even though Marrone had his reasons for the move, some thought he was trying to send a message to the Jets and let them know they were wrong to hire Todd Bowles instead of him three years ago.
I believe that was an eff you to all the people in NY who said Marrone wouldnt make a good head coach for the Jets. You should know about that. #hack

Marrone went for the TD and the 2 because the Jets didn’t hire gmhim a few years ago.

It’s up to you to decide whether or not you believe his explanation.
