Doug Martin has ‘slight tweak’ of hamstring

With a lopsided 40-7 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers took a shot to the ego and a shot to their starting running back.

Two-time Pro Bowler Doug Martin was forced to exit the Week 2 contest early with a hamstring injury. After the game, Martin told Roy Cummings of the Tampa Tribune that he was dealing with a “slight tweak” to the hammy.

Martin departed after only seven carries for 23 yards. Third-year running back Charles Sims would stand to benefit the most if Martin needs to miss time, which definitely seems possible considering the tendency of hamstring ailments to linger. Either way though, the Tampa Bay running game might not be much of a factor in Week 3 with a difficult matchup against the Los Angeles Rams on the horizon.
