Drew Lock working with second team despite coach criticism
Denver Broncos coach Vic Fangio has been rather blunt in his criticism of rookie quarterback Drew Lock, but the youngster is apparently still getting a promotion.
According to Mike Klis of 9News, Lock took all of the second-team reps during Sunday’s practice, supplanting veteran Kevin Hogan, who had been serving in that role throughout training camp.
Fangio refused to confirm any sort of promotion for Lock, but the expectation is the rookie will feature heavily in the team’s third preseason game. If he continues to impress, Klis believes the backup role is his to lose.
The rookie quarterback looked more solid against the Seahawks in his second outing after Fangio was very critical of his debut. Perhaps he’s starting to change minds, and may be entrusted with backing up Joe Flacco after all.
