Jacksonville Jaguars safety Earl Wolff was abducted by a group of armed men in February before being release unharmed, according to a report.
Wolff, who joined the Jaguars practice squad in December, was kidnapped in his hometown of Fayetteville, North Carolina on February 23, according to Thomas Pope of the Fayetteville Observer.
The initial reports were of a kidnapping and a robbery. Police said that Wolff was walking to his vehicle when he was accosted and forced into his vehicle. He was released unharmed after “a short time” and his vehicle was eventually recovered as well. Annabelle Meyers, assistant athletics director for communications at Wolff’s alma mater N.C. State, said that she had spoken to Wolff and he was “really shook up,” which is understandable.
One arrest has been made in the case, the police are still asking for leads. It is unclear if Wolff was targeted or the crime was random.
Wolff is best known for his time with the Eagles, where he played in 18 games and made seven starts, tallying 52 tackles and an interception.
