Ex-Packers star arrested on charges including ‘extreme DUI’
Former Green Bay Packers star Eddie Lacy was arrested in Arizona on Monday.
Lacy was pulled over at 10:40 p.m. on Monday night while he was driving in Scottsdale, Ariz., according to police records that were reviewed by TMZ. Officers said Lacy had been observed committing several traffic violations before he was stopped.
When police approached Lacy’s vehicle, they felt he exhibited signs of being intoxicated. Lacy was then allegedly found to have an open container of alcohol in his car. He was arrested and booked on four different charges related to driving while under the influence, one of which is “extreme DUI — BAC .20 or more.”
A Scottsdale Police Department spokesperson said Lacy was released on Tuesday morning.
Lacy, 34, looked like he was going to have a long and successful NFL career after the Packers drafted him in the second round in 2013. The former Alabama star had 1,178 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns in his first season and was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. He also made the Pro Bowl. Lacy had 1,566 total yards from scrimmage and 13 touchdowns in his second season, but things went downhill quickly for him after that.
Lacy played for the Packers for four seasons before wearing out his welcome in Green Bay, mostly because of his inability to stay in shape. He then spent a season with the Seattle Seahawks in 2017 and had weight-related incentives in his contract. Lacy has been out of the NFL since.
