Emmanuel Sanders believed to have suffered torn Achilles

Denver Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders was helped off the practice field Wednesday with an injury, and it sounds like it is one that could keep him out for quite some time.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that initial tests revealed that Sanders suffered a torn Achilles.

Achilles injuries are some of the toughest to bounce back from, and suffering one this late in the season would make it difficult for Sanders to be ready for the start of 2019 in addition to missing the rest of this season.

The Broncos are squarely in the AFC playoff hunt at 6-6, but losing Sanders would be a massive blow. The 31-year-old has had an extremely productive season with 71 catches for 868 yards and four touchdowns, and Denver has already traded Demaryius Thomas this year. Not having Sanders will make life extremely difficult for Case Keenum.
