Ex-NFL player: Le’Veon Bell’s teammates ‘brainwashed’ by Steelers

Le’Veon Bell has given no indication of when he will return to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and his teammates have begun openly expressing frustration in him. According to one former NFL player, the star running back isn’t the one they should be angry with.

Rich Ohrnberger, who last played for the San Diego Chargers in 2014, tweeted on Wednesday that the Steelers players who have criticized Bell are “brainwashed.”

Le’Veon Bell’s teammates are brainwashed.

Ownership/management/coaches have these players doing their dirty work! You DON’T comment on someone else’s contract. If Bell’s holdout succeeds in earning him more money it benefits the union.

This is ABSURD. #TeamBell

— Rich Ohrnberger (@ohrnberger) September 5, 2018

Ohrnberger’s point is that Bell is taking a stand against the franchise tag and trying to be paid market value, which is something players and the union should support. However, you can understand why Steelers players who have taken part in training camp all summer and are preparing for Week 1 would be frustrated.

Two veteran offensive linemen unloaded on Bell on Wednesday, and there have been reports that the running back is not planning to play in Week 1 and possibly beyond. His lengthy holdout has been a distraction, and that’s something his teammates are obviously fed up with.
