Falcons rule Devonta Freeman out for Sunday
The Atlanta Falcons will not have running back Devonta Freeman on the field Sunday.
Coach Dan Quinn confirmed that Freeman will not be able to play against the Carolina Panthers Sunday, though the good news is there is no apparent structural damage in the knee that is bothering him.
Coach Dan Quinn just told us Devonta Freeman (knee) will not play Sunday. The hope is this is not a long term thing. Nothing is structurally wrong.

Freeman was said to be fine after the season opener, but that hasn’t panned out. The nagging worry is that this is the same knee Freeman had problems with last year. While it doesn’t sound like the issues are related, it’s something that bears watching, and has surely caused the Falcons some concern. Perhaps that’s why they’re taking things pretty slowly with him.
