Eagles defensive lineman Fletcher Cox guaranteed a victory over Washington in their game on Saturday, which could prove decisive in the NFC East race.
Cox was asked about making the Pro Bowl, but he had other things on his mind.
“Yeah, it was one of my goals [to make the Pro Bowl], but I think the biggest relief will be when we win on Saturday,” Cox said, via Ryan Wilson of Eye On Football.
Cox was asked if the “when” meant he was guaranteeing a win, and he left no doubt.
“Yeah, I’m guaranteeing a win,” he said. “What am I supposed to say? That I think we’re going to lose or something? No.”
Cox has a point. It’s about all he can say. Given Jay Gruden’s motivational tactics, though, this might become bulletin board material anyway.
