George Kittle reportedly played through broken ankle, will continue to

George Kittle

George Kittle has burst onto the scene as one of the best tight ends in football over the past two seasons, and he is apparently one of the toughest players in the NFL as well.

Kittle has missed the San Francisco 49ers’ last two games with an ankle injury that is actually a broken bone, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports. Kittle suffered the injury in the first quarter of his team’s Oct. 31 game against the Arizona Cardinals and played through it. He is planning to suit up for Sunday night’s showdown with the Green Bay Packers despite it not being completely healed.

Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan said earlier in the week that Kittle is “different from most people” and would probably be doubtful for Sunday’s game if he were a “normal person.” The team has not confirmed that Kittle has a broken bone in his ankle, but those comments from Shanahan make more sense now knowing that.

Kittle battled a different injury prior to the season, but he was kind enough to assure his fantasy football owners that they did not need to be concerned over it. The 26-year-old has 46 catches for 541 yards and two touchdowns this season after he broke out with 1,377 yards and five touchdowns on 88 receptions last year.
