Report: Giants see Saquon Barkley as ‘near-perfect prospect’
We may have a signal as to where the New York Giants are leaning with the No. 2 overall pick.
According to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post, the Giants view running back Saquon Barkley as “a near-perfect prospect” and rate him more highly than Ezekiel Elliott when he came out of Ohio State. Barkley is viewed as a superior pass-catcher without character concerns.
One NFL scout told Schwartz that he believes Giants general manager Dave Gettleman is targeting Barkley.
“I thought all along this is the guy Dave wants,” the scout said. “And he might get him, if Cleveland is dumb enough not to take him at No. 1.”
There are reports that the Giants may not even keep the pick. If they do, it certainly sounds like they’re leaning a certain way.
