Harry Kane is a superstar soccer player for Bayern Munich and the England national team, but he is considering a major career twist.
Kane is thinking about playing in both the MLS and NFL at the same time at some point in his career, according to Jack Pitt-Brooke of The Athletic.
“Maybe if I am in the MLS in the future or somewhere like that it might be a thing where you could connect the two, with the seasons,” Kane said.
Kane also said that trying to be an NFL kicker is something he wants to “try and look at a bit more seriously.”
Kane said that taking penalties in soccer is similar to what it might be like as an NFL kicker. However, the Bayern Munich star says that if he does make an attempt, it is something he will train for.
“If I was to do it, it is something I would take seriously. I would take six months to a year to try and practice before.”
Right now, Kane still has years remaining of quality play on the soccer field, and England suffered a crushing loss to Argentina in the most recent World Cup.
Multi-sport athletes are incredibly rare, and Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders are considered unicorns in that regard as they played MLB and NFL at the same time.
It’s a long way off for Harry Kane, but it would be quite something to see him kick for an NFL team and play for an MLS team simultaneously.
