Ja’Marr Chase had the most depressing stat line of Week 5

The Cincinnati Bengals’ offense manages to look worse with each passing week, and it may have hit a new low during Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions.

Quarterback Jake Browning once again struggled during Sunday’s game at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati, Oh. by throwing three interceptions during the first three quarters. They were ugly, too, especially the second, which was essentially a desperate prayer that was easily grabbed by Detroit safety Kerby Joseph.

All three of Browning’s interceptions came on passes intended for star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase. As a result, at one point during the third quarter, Chase was tied for the team lead in solo tackles with three.

At one point in the third quarter, Chase only had one more catch than he had tackles. He had several explosive plays during the remainder of the half, and wound up catching two touchdowns.

Joe Burrow’s injury has cratered the Cincinnati offense. That has been hugely frustrating for Chase, and understandably so. One of the game’s best wide receivers simply does not have a quarterback who can consistently get him the ball right now.
