Jared Goff is moving on up in the world.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft began the season for the Rams third on the depth chart at quarterback, but Goff will be in uniform on Sunday as the backup quarterback to Case Keenum.
Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said earlier in the week that Goff might serve as the No. 2 quarterback on Sunday, and he confirmed that news on Friday. Fisher said Goff was “excited” to serve in that capacity.
In addition to Keenum and Goff, the Rams have Sean Mannion on their roster at quarterback. Keenum was just 17 of 35 for 130 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions in the Rams’ season-opening loss to the 49ers.
