No team in the NFL has been better at embracing the underdog mentality this season than the Detroit Lions, and we saw another example of that when Jared Goff had a hilarious exchange with a reporter.
During his media availability on Wednesday, Goff was asked by a reporter if the Lions draw motivation from the fact that there is not as much hype surrounding their players as there seems to be with the San Francisco 49ers. Goff initially thanked the reporter for saying the Lions have good players. He then sarcastically said “never mind” when the reporter pointed out that Detroit’s upcoming opponent is perceived as being better.
You can see the exchange below:

Hilarious exchange between Jared Goff and @bobwojnowski, who was trying to say how NFL fans may not know the Lions stars.
Wojo: "You have a lot of really good players"
Goff: "Thank you"
Wojo: "But maybe not viewed as superstars like the 49ers"
Goff: "Alright, never mind" 🤣 pic.twitter.com/yDKdffPjwi— Brad Galli (@BradGalli) January 24, 2024
Goff eventually stopped giving the reporter a hard time and acknowledged that the Lions have “a ton of great players that maybe haven’t had the national stage, up to this point, that a lot of other guys have.”
The Lions are a 7-point favorite for the NFC Championship Game, so they should have no problem keeping the chip on their shoulder for at least another week.
