Jay Cutler’s feeling about the thumb injury that knocked him out of “Monday Night Football” should have Chicago Bears fans worried.

Cutler said after the Bears’ 29-14 home loss to the Philadelphia Eagles that he was “concerned” about his thumb injury that caused him to leave the game in the third quarter.

Bears QB Jay Cutler will undergo more testing on his injured right thumb Tuesday. "I'm concerned," he said.

Cutler referenced 2011, when a broken thumb ended his season, as he talked about his concern w this injury.

The Bears quarterback told reporters after the game that he injured his right hand on a hit early in the game, and the injury was re-aggravated on a sack-fumble in the third quarter. Cutler also said the injury was a factor in him not being able to grip the ball, which may have had something to do with his ugly, game-changing interception he threw from deep in his own territory late in the third that set up the Eagles for a touchdown.

Cutler said he wasn't able to grip the ball the way he normally does. That may have been an issue on the costly pick.

Cutler was 12/17 for 157 yards and the interception prior to leaving the game. Backup Brian Hoyer threw for 78 yards in his place.

Cutler has thrown for just one touchdown in Chicago’s first two games.
