The Gruden family may soon have two members coaching in the NFL.
Jay Gruden will be back next season for his fifth year as head coach of the Washington Redskins. And all indications signal that Jon Gruden will return to the NFL to coach the Oakland Raiders.
So what does Jay think of Jon returning to the NFL?
“He is already a very good broadcaster, but he would be an excellent coach,” Jay Gruden said, via ESPN’s John Keim. “It’s in his blood and if he chooses to go that route, I wish him all the best. Welcome back if he does, if not, he is a great commentator. So we will see.”
That’s a pretty benign comment, as you would expect. Jon has not coached since 2008. He is 95-81 in his career, with five playoff appearances and a Super Bowl win.
