Is Jayden Daniels playing in Week 8 with his hamstring injury?

Jayden Daniels suffered another injury during the Washington Commanders’ Week 7 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, and the star quarterback is going to miss at least one game because of it.

Daniels injured his hamstring on a play where he lost a fumble early in the second half of Washington’s 44-22 Week 7 loss to the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. His leg twisted awkwardly underneath him, which led to concerns that he had suffered a more serious injury.

Daniels was then seen grabbing at the back of his right leg as trainers helped him to the sideline. He did not return.

On Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported that Daniels has been diagnosed with a low-grade hamstring strain and will not play in Washington’s Week 8 “Monday Night Football” game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Marcus Mariota will start for the Commanders in the game. The veteran also filled in for Daniels earlier this season when Daniels missed time due to a knee injury.

Daniels played in all 17 games in his outstanding NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year campaign last season. He has been banged up thus far in 2025. Daniels’ mother, Regina Jackson, took to social media earlier this week to bash a narrative she has heard about her son not being able to avoid injuries.

The concern for the Commanders is that hamstring injuries tend to linger, and the team is now 3-4 with games upcoming against the Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lions. Daniels could potentially be sidelined for Washington’s most crucial stretch of games in 2025.
