Jim Caldwell rips Detroit media for negativity

Jim Caldwell Lions

The Lions are coming off their worst loss of the season — a 45-10 shellacking in London at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs that dropped Detroit’s record to an NFL-worst 1-7. Yet, for some reason, Jim Caldwell still expects the media to play nice.

On Tuesday, Caldwell spent some time complaining to reporters about how negative the media in Detroit has been.

That’s the type of thing a coach of a 4-4 team could say if all of the local beat writers were penning “sky is falling” pieces. But a 1-7 team that suddenly looks like the worst in the league a year after finishing 11-5 and making the playoffs? What do you expect, Jim?

Caldwell is starting to let his frustrations show, and he has not done a good job of taking responsibility for the struggles of his team. For another example of that, look no further than what he said about Detroit’s offense a few weeks back. If he thinks the media is bad now, he should lose a few more games and keep whining about the coverage of the team. Then Caldwell will really see the “dungeon of doom.”
