Jonathan Taylor had yet another big game for the Indianapolis Colts, and this one included an “octopus.”

Taylor rushed 17 times for 66 yards with 3 touchdowns in his Colts’ 40-6 win over the Las Vegas Raiders at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. on Sunday. He added 3 catches for 20 yards. This was his second three-touchdown game of the season, but first that included an “octopus.”

An octopus is a newer term created by Monday Morning Quarterback writer and editor Mitch Goldich. The term describes when a player scores both a touchdown and 2-point conversion on the same sequence.

Taylor did it in the third quarter when he ran for a 6-yard score and ran in the 2-point conversion to make it 40-3. Taylor was informed of the feat and nickname after the game and said he had just learned the term.

Jonathan Taylor says he just found out that if a player gets a touchdown and a 2-point conversion in the same game, it’s called an octopus.

I’ve never heard that before.

But I don’t care. JT’s right. From now on, I shall refer to that as an octopus

This is not the first octopus of the season, but it was the first one Taylor’s earned since learning about it. While it’s a cool feat, the reality is he’s more concerned with helping his team win games.

The Colts have been doing plenty of winning. They’re 4-1, have the highest point differential in the league, and are one of the biggest surprises in the NFL.
