Report: Josh Shaw made three-team parlay bet, went against Cardinals
It’s becoming readily apparent why the NFL felt it appropriate to come down hard on Arizona Cardinals defensive back Josh Shaw for betting on NFL games.
According to David Purdum of ESPN, Shaw made a three-team parlay bet on Nov. 10 at a Caesars sportsbook in Las Vegas. The parlay involved the second half line of three games, including the Cardinals-Buccaneers game. Shaw reportedly bet on the Bucs to cover the second half spread against Arizona. He lost the bet.
Caesars contacted the appropriate authorities, including the NFL, after becoming aware of Shaw’s bet. Shaw made no effort to hide his identity, listing his occupation as “professional football player.”
This is the latest evidence that Shaw was incredibly brazen about what he was doing, mostly because he considered it an innocent mistake. It’s not as if the NFL’s gambling policy isn’t clear, and it’s kind of hard to believe that he could have thought this was all okay, especially placing bets on his own team.
