Julian Edelman sends clear message to Tom Brady about free agency

Julian Edelman does not want to catch passes from a quarterback other than Tom Brady next season, and the veteran wide receiver has moved beyond the point of trying to conceal his feelings.

When Brady posted that cryptic photo on social media last week that ended up being a teaser for a Super Bowl ad, Edelman issued a somewhat subtle response in the form of a funny meme that swapped his face on John Cusack’s from “Say Anything.” On Tuesday, Edelman shared the same meme again. Only this time, he included the caption “Baby come back” and tagged Brady in the post.

That doesn’t leave much open for interpretation. Edelman isn’t about to let Brady abandon him without a fight. The two have had a hardcore bromance that spans over many years now, and Edelman doesn’t want Brady to throw it all away for a few more bucks or a fresh start at age 42.

A report over the weekend claimed the Patriots are prepared to spend big to keep Brady, but at least one AFC rival is waiting for the opportunity to pry him away from New England. If Brady leaves, there’s no telling what Edelman might do.
