Jimmy Garoppolo might not be a New England Patriot next season, but he’s certainly getting some rave reviews from his current teammates.
Wide receiver Julian Edelman was full of praise for New England’s backup quarterback, telling NFL Network that his confidence was on par with that of Brett Favre or Aaron Rodgers.
“I’m not a paid G.M. so I don’t know the whole value thing. As far as a guy that I could play with every single day, Jimmy Garoppolo, I mean, the guy’s a stud,” Edelman said, via Josh Alper of ProFootballTalk. “He went out and played in the regular season and he played very well. He’s got that kind of gunslinger confidence. That Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers kind of confidence. He practices hard, he prepares hard. He’s a good kid, he’s young. I think he’s a good player.”
Edelman’s praise isn’t going to do much to improve Garoppolo’s trade value, but it won’t hurt, either. The Patriots are already said to be putting a high price tag on him, and a number of teams will likely pursue him.
