Justin Herbert and Sam Darnold started off Sunday’s game with a mid-off.
Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers faced off against Darnold and the Seattle Seahawks during Week 4 at Lumen Field in Seattle, Wash. But the two veteran quarterbacks began play with dueling miscues … both within the first 20 seconds of the game.
On the very first play from scrimmage, Herbert fired an interception into the arms of Seahawks linebacker Drake Thomas. Fortunately for the Chargers though, Darnold gave the ball right back on the very next play, getting picked off himself by linebacker Tuli Tuipulotu.

Fans had a lot of fun with that “Yakety Sax” sequence to start the game. Here were some of the funniest memes that resulted about Herbert and Darnold.

That was Herbert’s fifth interception of the season and Darnold’s third. Needless to say, meatball sub fans were certainly eating good during Sunday’s matchup between the two.
Darnold does have the edge at this point as his Seahawks entered play at 2-1 on the season (compared to 0-3 for Herbert’s Chargers). The Chargers have also been no stranger to unsightly feats in the early stages of this season.
