Keyshawn Johnson claims Jeff Fisher was ‘forced’ to draft Jared Goff

Jeff Fisher Rams

After the Los Angeles Rams were embarrassed on Monday night, one of the week’s big talking points has been why the team is so reluctant to even consider putting No. 1 pick Jared Goff under center. Could it be because the coach doesn’t really want him in the first place?

Former receiver and current ESPN personality Keyshawn Johnson says he’s heard that coach Jeff Fisher did not want Goff in the first place back in April.

“From my outside people and the inside people that I know with the Rams, that wasn’t the choice that Jeff Fisher really wanted,” Johnson told The Stephen A. Smith Show on Tuesday. “I think he was basically forced to draft Jared Goff.

“I think he wanted more players. I think he wanted more players because he felt that he could be more competitive with more players, but they felt they needed to make a splash moving into Los Angeles and drafting a quarterback.”

Perhaps this is part of the reason that Goff isn’t even getting a look despite Case Keenum’s uninspiring performance. It stands to reason that the decisionmakers in Los Angeles wanted to make a statement come draft time over Fisher’s objections.
