Kirk Cousins and the Washington Redskins are not close to a long-term contract agreement.
Cousins told reporters that the two sides aren’t there yet, but he didn’t rule out coming to an agreement.

July 15 is the deadline for tagged players to come up with a long-term agreement with their teams. Cousins has left the door open for an agreement with Washington, but it’s unclear how far apart they are or how much they’ve even tried. It doesn’t sound like things have truly gone bad as they have in other franchise tag negotiations, so that, at least, is a good sign for the team.
