Kyle Long tweets nasty photo of his ankle injury

Kyle Long suffered an ankle injury in the Chicago Bears’ loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers two weeks ago, and the offensive lineman will finally be going for surgery on his leg.

Long, who is on injured reserve, shared this photo of his leg via Twitter Sunday. In his tweet, he also noted that he will have the surgery Monday:

It’s unclear when the photo was taken, but his ankle was all swollen and there was tremendous discoloration. Of course, it was known since the injury was suffered that it was pretty serious, but when you see a photo like that, it certainly is eye-opening.

The Chicago Tribune reported last week that the surgery on Long’s ankle to repair a tendon was considered minor. After the ankle procedure, the right guard will undergo surgery on his shoulder. He is expected to be ready in time for training camp.
