Kyle Shanahan takes jab at controversial pass interference call
San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan took a not-so-subtle jab at a controversial offensive pass interference call that helped halt a late rally against the Los Angeles Rams.
With the 49ers down two points inside the final two minutes on Thursday night, wide receiver Trent Taylor caught a pass that brought the team to the edge of field goal range at the Rams’ 39. Taylor was called for offensive pass interference, though replays were inconclusive as to whether there was a pushoff, and the drive never recovered.
Shanahan made clear his displeasure with the call through one simple quote on Friday.
“I saw a very good route,” Shanahan said of the play, via Charean Williams of ProFootballTalk.
It’s fair to say that Thursday night’s officials did not have the best night — though Shanahan’s team gave up 41 points in the first place.
