Lamar Jackson says he intends to throw more Sunday
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is ready to throw the ball.
Despite a winning performance against the Cincinnati Bengals, Jackson ran the ball 27 times in that victory, causing some to question his performance and raise concerns about whether he had it in him to throw the ball well enough to compete in a more typical NFL game. Jackson has heard that criticism, and seems eager to correct it against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday.
“You guys know I can throw,” Jackson said Wednesday, via Austin Knoblauch of NFL.com. “I ran 27 times [Sunday], even though I didn’t try to. We did whatever it took to win. you know, hopefully I’m going to start throwing the ball more. The game plan that’s coming up, we’re going to be throwing the ball. You’ll see.”
Jackson still hasn’t been confirmed as Sunday’s starter, though it looks likely. Many will be watching eagerly to see where Jackson’s arm is at, as he didn’t flash it much last week.
