Las Vegas considers Vikings overwhelming favorite to sign Kirk Cousins
Kirk Cousins would likely insist that he has not made any decisions about his future with free agency still days away, but Las Vegas believes the star quarterback already knows where he will be playing in 2018.
As Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News noted on Friday, Las Vegas — more specifically Bovada.lv — considers the Minnesota Vikings to be the overwhelming favorite to sign Cousins. The Vikings have 1/3 odds to land Cousins, while the Denver Broncos have the second highest chance at 10/3. That’s a very significant gap.
The New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals, the other two teams that have been mentioned as potential Cousins suitors, are third and fourth at 5/1 and 15/1, respectively.
At this point, Cousins’ decision could come down to whether he wants more money or a better shot at winning. While all of the aforementioned teams would be willing to make him one of the highest paid quarterbacks in the NFL, there have been reports that the Jets are willing to make whatever financial commitment they have to make. The Vikings, however, went to the NFC Championship Game last season and may have the best defense in the NFL. They also have two rising star wide receivers in Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs and a playmaking running back in Dalvin Cook.
Given some of the rumblings we have heard, it’s not surprising that Minnesota is considered the favorite. But if NFL free agency has taught us anything, it’s that things can change quickly and often.
