Mark Sanchez benched in favor of Josh Johnson
The Washington Redskins saw their season come to an unofficial end on Sunday, and Mark Sanchez’s career may have gone down the drain with it.
After the New York Giants jumped out to a 40-0 lead over Washington, Sanchez was benched in favor of Josh Johnson. The former first-round pick finished the day with just six completions on 14 attempts and two interceptions, one of which was a pick-six he threw from his own end zone.

The Redskins signed Johnson this past week after Colt McCoy went down with an injury in Week 13. They originally brought Sanchez in to be the backup to McCoy, but he was quickly thrust into a starting role. Johnson had not previously completed a pass in an NFL game since 2011.
With Alex Smith and McCoy both injured and Sanchez having been benched on Sunday, the remainder of the season looks grim for Washington. Perhaps they should have given more consideration to signing a certain former star quarterback who can’t seem to find work.
