Mark Sanchez ‘thrilled to work’ with ‘as advertised’ Tim Tebow

Now that the Jets’ offseason program has begun, Mark Sanchez has finally gotten to know his new back-up and frenemy Tim Tebow. And even though Tebow is planning to assume the QB1 role, Sanchez still has nothing but kind things to say about him.

“He’s been as advertised, as good of a guy, if not better, than anybody said,” Sanchez said, according to the New York Post. “So, he’s been a great addition so far. I’m thrilled to work with him.”

“From a competitor standpoint, he’s great,” Sanchez added. “He’s what you want in an offseason program — working hard, competing with the guy in the weight room. This is a big, strong guy, so it’s good for me. That’s been one of my goals this offseason — putting on a little more muscle mass. I’ve taken a beating during the season. It’s been a good transition and Tim’s been great.”

Anybody buying Sanchez’s comments? Yeah, didn’t think so. At least Sanchez is trying to be cordial, even if it might be in a “keep your enemies close” kind of way. But nobody is truly happy to work with the guy who is trying to take their job. You could say Sanchez is just trying to be professional, but I don’t think professionalism is something that exists in the Jets locker room. Besides, you know you’re running out of nice things to say when you’re starting to talk about the guy’s physique.
