Matt Forte announces his retirement

Forte was arguably one of the most underrated running backs in the NFL over the past decade. He missed very few games and averaged 4.2 yards per carry, but some of his biggest contributions came in the passing game. The 32-year-old started to show signs of wear with the Jets last season, finishing with just 381 rushing yards on 103 carries. He added 37 catches for 293 yards.
Forte, a second-round pick in 2008, spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Chicago Bears. He was one of the best players at his position for much of that span.
