Maurkice Pouncey: Mike Wallace is a ‘coward’

At least one member of the Miami Dolphins was glad to see wide receiver Mike Wallace traded to the Minnesota Vikings last week.

During an interview with CBS 4 in Miami that will air on Tuesday evening, Dolphins offensive lineman Mike Pouncey was asked for his opinion on Wallace. Pouncey, who was joined by his brother Maurkice, did not hold back.

“Obviously our organization felt a way about some guys and they got those guys off of our football team,” he said. “I think it was the right move for everybody.”

While we have only seen a small piece of the interview, Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald seemed fairly confident that both Mike and Maurkice were bagging on Wallace. Maurkice, who was teammates with Wallace in Pittsburgh, took it a step further than his brother.

“First of all, in my opinion, he’s a coward,” Maurkice said. “I never want a guy on my team like that. To walk out on your band of brothers…”

Wallace did not play in the second half of Miami’s final game of the season against the New York Jets back in December. He later had fellow receiver Brandon Gibson speak to the media for him, and it seemed evident that Wallace was upset about only drawing one target in the first half. While we initially thought Dolphins coach Joe Philbin had benched Wallace, reports later claimed the speedster had taken himself out of the game.

Mike-Wallace

It’s no secret that Wallace was unhappy with his lack of usage on several occasions during his two seasons in Miami. He even complained about it once after a win. That typically doesn’t sit well with your teammates.
